Q: “What are ’solar ponds’ and how do they work?”
A: “Solar pond are a way to use a very salty water in a pond and to get hot salt water which gathers on the bottom of the pond. You can use it to make hot water through a heat exchange or use it to run a Rankin cycle turbine to create electricity. Probably for commercial applications in desert areas.”
Q: Approx. how much solar energy shines on the average house, and how does this compare to the energy that I buy from the gas and electric company?
A: Good question Jessica. The answer varies based on where in the world your house is located. In most of California, Your house receives more energy than it uses based on a years worth of energy. We at Solarponics Inc. are working on the next generation of home that are called Net Zero. These homes will produce as much energy as they consume. They will be required for 50% of the new homes in 2016 and 100% by 2020 for new California Homes.
